KATRA: 22 Nov, Team “The MechaniX” comprising 17 students under SAE INDIA ( Society for aAutomoibile Engineers, India) SMVDU COLLEGIATE CLUB from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University brings laurels to the state and the university when their car design was selected among the designs of other colleges across the country including IITs and NITs. About 300 colleges across the country registered for the event known as BAJA SAEINDIA- 2012 which aimed for designing and fabricating an All Terrain Vehicle which will cost around 3.5 lakh rupees. SMVDU notches top 100 design category and selected for the second round. All these students are working under Dr. Navdeep Malhotra (Senior Faculty Advisor) and Mr. Yatheshth Anand (Faculty Advisor) for the SAE INDIA SMVDU Collegiate Club.

SAE namely Society of Automobile Engineering is an international organization which organizes various events across the globe to provide platform to the emerging engineering students to show their knowledge and skills in automobile sector to the world. SMVDU is running the same in the name of SAE INDIA SMVDU COLLEGIATE CLUB in the School Of Mechanical Engineering.

When asked about how they prepared for the event, they answered that it all started last December, whole team was fragmented into different groups to study various modules associated with the automobiles, conducting meetings and Automobile documentaries proved really helpful. During June and July the team members went to CADD-Centre Jammu and Design-Tech Delhi for gaining hands-on expertise on the computer aided design of the vehicle. Their hard work has paid off finally and they are all set out to fabricate the actual All Terrain Vehicle for the event which is going to held on 19th Feb, at Pitampura, Indore.
